Remediation

Not all Minnesota mold remediation companies are equal. Attention to detail, building knowledge, quality equipment, and experience are vital to providing successful mold remediation.

We also understand that each individual reacts differently to mold exposure. Sensitized individuals are in search of relief from living in an unhealthy, chemical-free home, so using harsh chemicals to get rid of irritants seems, to us, counterproductive. That is why we insist on using the most natural process possible, including no harsh chemical cleaners.

Process

Attention to detail is key in mold remediation. We find that the area many of our competitors lack in quality is the thorough cleaning of the work area. We utilize and develop cutting edge techniques customized to each individual home ensuring precision and quality.

We do recommend that the process begins with mold inspection and testing. This helps us identify the extent of the damage, which types of mold are present, and measure our results once the process is complete.

Prepping for Mold Remediation

The Remediation Specialist will review the entirety of the planned mold remediation project with our Director of Operations. If working on a project that is a significant distance from our headquarters, we call the client when we are one hour away from the job site to give them an accurate timeline. Once we arrive at the job site, we position the dump trailer in the safest and easiest location for debris collection.

We then don the appropriate safety equipment and perform a project walk-through to confirm the day’s workflow and staging. At this point, we may identify any areas of concern or possible change orders. If the homeowner is on-site, we will communicate what will be performed on the first day and give a summary of the remediation days to follow.

Next, we establish a clean room for dressing and undressing safety gear and to store any personal belongings. Before we begin the actual remediation, we construct containment barriers and establish proper pressure to eliminate the risk of cross contamination. This is done by positioning HEPA air scrubbers with a preplanned negative pressure path unique to each work area. Finally, we don our safety equipment and begin remediation.

Completing Mold Remediation

Starting with the deepest remediation location in the structure, our team works from the top down following your remediation plan. We follow the debris control plan and stop to reevaluate throughout each day's progress. Debris should be removed from the deepest point of the remediation first so that we are not cross-contaminating any clean zones.

We utilize HEPA controlled tools to carefully remove drywall reducing the amount of demolition dust. The demolition is then placed in bags which are sealed and carried outside of the home through a strategic path eliminating the potential for cross-contamination. We remove any framing elements that are contaminated with mold. Then, we do a thorough magnet sweep of the entire area for nails, screws, and metal debris before HEPA vacuuming the floor.

Carpet (if necessary) is removed after contaminated wall covering and building materials are removed. We thoroughly vacuum the carpet, cut it into 2ft by 10 ft pieces, and roll them up. The carpet padding is removed last, along with any remaining staples, nail strips, or nails. The last vacuuming stage is then completed working in grids across each zone. Hot water extraction is performed on all applicable walls and floors leaving the work area clean and healthy.
